Look closely and you’ll see that there are two Batmans (Batmen? For some reason Batmans FEELS more right to me) - the real one, above, and another one, behind the blast of the gun shooting Joker in the face. The composition on this page is a little confusing. He’s been affected by the Joker’s toxin.īLAM. The smiling maniac you see here on page one is Commissioner Gordon, a long time ally of Batman’s. (There is also a deluxe version of The Black Glove which contains it.) You can find it either in the graphic novel of the same name, or in Batman #655. The first chunk of Morrison’s story is called Batman and Son. Morrison rewards a careful reader, so I’ll also try to point out the more interesting bits. ![]() There are better annotations of Morrison’s stuff out there, but this is for someone who doesn’t know Two Face from Clayface. I’m writing this reading guide because I think EVERYONE should read it, even if you only have a passing familiarity with Batman. The story is not only epic in length but in scale and in the amount of crazy ideas and new life he injects into Batman’s world. Grant Morrison has been writing a continuous Batman story since 2006. You have just taken your first step into a larger world. ![]()
